Connor's Heroes Foundation, Chesterfield United and U-Turn, Inc. are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Connor's Heroes Charity Futsal Tournament to be held on March 25, 2007, at the U-Turn Sports Performance Academy in Richmond, Virginia. We are looking forward to bringing together the players and parents of Chesterfield Soccer Club, the creativity and performance enhancement of U-Turn and the heart of Connor�s Heroes to bring awareness to our community and to help raise money to conquer childhood cancer.
The tournament will feature 4-on-4, 'futsal' games (FIFA recognized indoor soccer) and will pair teams in age groups 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 & up in a round robin format. Teams will be encouraged to raise funds beyond the $25 minimum per person. The team that raises the most money will receive a special prize, in addition to the gifts, give-aways, specialized sports instruction and clinics provided to each player.
Chesterfield United is a quality soccer club with over 2000 players participating in the program. Its mission is to develop youth soccer. To accomplish this goal, the club will provide quality instruction and training for the players, coaches and referees through a well-managed organization. Since 1992, U-TURN has successfully connected youth from Richmond, VA's inner-city and suburban neighborhoods for high-performance athletic development, team competition, fellowship events and Bible-based guidance. U-Turn�s goal is to develop these youth to be highly skilled athletes and community minded citizens who champion discipline, diversity, and service to others. In 2005, U-TURN provided 47,200 hours of mentoring and training to youth. Many youth receive full or partial scholarships to play sports in college. U-Turn�s new soccer program is headed by Gregory Simmonds, a professional soccer player currently in his 8th pro season. During the 2006 season, Simmonds was honored with being selected for the 2006 United Soccer League All-Star Team.
