Heroes through Sports
U-TURN Sports Performance Academy has become part of Connor’s Heroes Hero Family. As a facility, U-Turn offers sports training to youth and children with cancer who have been told by their medical team that it is safe for them to participate in sports programs again. They are also willing to support families who have a child in active cancer treatment whose siblings are involved in sports.
The Community Outreach Council (COC) executive committee, which is composed of youth from every sport at U-TURN, is also anxious to become heroes. They will be providing signed sports balls and pictures to be given to children being treated for cancer at the Children's Medical Center at VCU Health System and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Massey Cancer Center. They will also be supporting these youth through a pen pal/card exchange program. U-TURN supplied some sports energy by sponsoring a team for the Anthem Quest for the Cure on June 21. They also provided with some obstacle course challenges at the Kid Zone for the Richmond Kickers Game on June 21. The theme of the night was “Take a Kick out of Cancer”. Connor's Heroes is excited to partner with the U-TURN Sports Performance Academy!!
