First Annual Oystoberfest

On Saturday, October 21, 2006, Connor's Heroes Foundation and St. Thomas Episcopal Church joined efforts and hosted the First Annual Oystoberfest on the church grounds in Ginter Park. The event was a smashing success! Over 500 people enjoyed perfect weather, great food, live music, and children's activities (including crafts, a soccer area, Moon Walk and a pony ride).
Fried and raw oysters, oyster shooters and barbeque were cooked to perfection by Johnny Giavos of the Sidewalk Cafe, 3 Monkeys, Kuba Kuba and the new Kitchen 64. Susan Greenbaum, Sara Tandy, Silverback Blues Burners, and Uisce Beatha provided music and entertained the crowd throughout the day. All proceeds benefitted Connor's Heroes and St. Thomas Church.
The 2nd annual Oystoberfest will be held on October 20, 2007 at St. Thomas Church. Be sure to log on to www.oystoberfest.com to find out the musical line-ups and other information.

World Cup Challange 2006

The Richmond Kickers are pleased to team up with Connor's Heroes Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer. The Kickers participated in the organization's first fundraising endeavor, "The World Cup Challenge," which kicked off on June 8th, 2006 at Bandito's Burrito Lounge located at 2905 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA 23220.

The World Cup Challenge paired teams randomly with one of the 32 qualifying FIFA World Cup teams in a fun lottery drawing. The team whose country advanced to the final game of the World Cup on Sunday, July 9th, as well as the team who raised the most money for Connor's Heroes, won a World Cup Finals party at Bandito's Burrito Lounge, including widescreen television, prizes such as tickets to the Kickers versus DC United game on August 30th, and complimentary food and beverages. All proceeds from the event benefitted Connor's Heroes Foundation in its efforts to conquer childhood cancer.
