Reflections On Mother’s Day

At the Heroes Art Ball, I love watching the moms of our Heroes. First, they look so beautiful all dressed up and celebrating a night out of the hospital. But, the best moment is when their children stand on stage, in front of hundreds of people, for the live auction. The moms are so proud. I am proud of these mothers. I can't tell you how hard it is to see your child in the hospital – to make decisions about which treatment is best knowing either choice is going to be painful. I understand what these mothers are going through because I dealt with the emotional uncertainty when Connor went through treatment. That's what makes the programs of Connor's Heroes so important to our Hero families. We offer help to the moms (and dads) so they don't have to ask, which can be difficult. We educate our volunteers on how cancer affects a family. They help a family with compassion and understanding. Connor's Heroes can't take away a child's cancer. We can give a Hero Mom a community who will help her.

Happy Mother's Day to our Hero Moms!
