Will you GIVE HOPE to Richmond area children fighting against cancer?

This month, Connor's Heroes introduced our "Give Hope" campaign. We are asking you to make a gift that will fund our programs for the coming year. How can you make a difference for our hero families?

$25 gives hope in a basket with a memory box to a family who is grieving the loss of their son;

$100 gives hope to a boy who discovers his hospital room decorated with cartoon characters;

$250 gives hope in a backpack for a teenage girl and a totebag for her parents as they prepare for long stays in the hospital;

$1,000 gives hope for the future by contributing to the Connor's Heroes Pediatric Cancer Research Fund.

Connor's Heroes has supported close to 1,000 children and their families since 2006. We've grown into a well-respected non-profit that doctors, social workers and other families recommend to parents when they first learn their child has cancer. The gift you make right now will give hope!

Helping Heroes In Action!

Saturday was an amazing day of helping heroes and generous hearts as 50 volunteers spent the morning doing yard work for four of our hero families throughout the area. You can imagine that when your child is battling childhood cancer, in and out of the hospital, raking leaves is not a priority. Yet, yard work nags our parents; especially if guests are coming for the holiday. Connor's Heroes strives to bring a community of heroes to ease our families' burdens so they can focus on getting their sons or daughters well. What better way than having a group of volunteers show up at their door steps ready to help!

Thank you to our volunteers. If you can not volunteer your time as a Helping Hero, you can make a gift to support the Helping Heroes program.

Help Jim raise $500 for Grayson

Show your support for our hero Jim H. whose raising money for Connor's Heroes. Jim volunteered for our hero Grayson when Grayson was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. Now Grayson is back in treatment. He's 3.5 years old and battling cancer for the second time. To show support for Grayson's next round of treatment Jim promised to not shave (yikes, did he check w/ his wife?!?) as he raises $500 for CHF to help Grayson and other children in treatment in Richmond. You can support Jim and Grayson by making a gift online at our secure website. Your gift will directly support the outreach that CHF gives to children like Grayson.  https://connorsheroes.myetap.org/fundraiser/notshaving/

Spend a Saturday morning doing yard work for our heroes!

Many of you ask us "How can I help?" Well, here's your chance. On Saturday, November 22 we will send teams of volunteers to the homes of some of our hero families to do yard work. You can imagine that when your child is battling childhood cancer, in and out of the hospital, raking leaves is not a priority. Yet, yard work nags our parents. Let's show these brave families that we care enough to volunteer a few hours of our time to help relieve their stresses. This one day service project is ideal for teens, service organizations, church groups or college clubs. The more volunteers, the more families we can help. Interested? Email Erin, our assistant program director, at erin at connorsheroes dot org by November 14th

Connor's Heroes on TV

Heroes to Heroes!

Our heroes met the performers of Marvel Universe Live - a stage show featuring the comic book heroes of Marvel! Yasmine, Evan, Connor H., Grace, Connor G., and Emily, along with their brothers, sisters and parents, watched the performers show off their amazing stunts. The kids even tried a few superhero moves themselves. “Marvel Universe LIVE! is thrilled to be a partner with Connor’s Heroes to connect with children in Richmond who are showing such courage on a daily basis,” said Crystal Drake, Regional Communications Director for Feld Entertainment. “Our performers are excited to meet such strong real-life heroes who are fighting and overcoming their own personal battles every day.”  Thank you to Marvel for giving our heroes a wonderful memory!

Celebrating Day Zero with Savanna!

Savanna is a nine-year-old who is in the process of a bone marrow transplant.  Her amazing brother, Asher, served as her donor! This is not an easy procedure. Some patients stay in the hospital for 100 days. Lots of doctors come in and out; visitors drop by; many tests are run daily; medicines are prescribed, and side effects are numerous.To help families through the transplant process, Connor’s Heroes created a Care Journal. Much like the baby journal you probably kept for your child’s first year, this journal has a page for each day in the bone marrow transplant process to record the ups and downs and milestones of this life alterning experience.
